Rapid H. pylori Antigen Test – Quick, Accurate Detection of Helicobacter pylori

The Rapid H. pylori Antigen Test is a point-of-care diagnostic tool designed to quickly detect the presence of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) antigens in human stool samples. This non-invasive test is essential for the early diagnosis and management of H. pylori infections, which are commonly associated with gastritis, peptic ulcers, and an increased risk of gastric cancer.

Key Features:

  • Rapid Results: Provides results within 15–20 minutes, facilitating prompt clinical decision-making.
  • High Sensitivity and Specificity: Rigorously validated to ensure accurate detection of H. pylori antigens, minimizing false-negative and false-positive results.
  • Non-Invasive: Utilizes stool samples, offering a patient-friendly alternative to more invasive diagnostic procedures.
  • User-Friendly: Simple procedure that requires minimal training and does not need complex laboratory equipment.
  • Cost-Effective: An affordable diagnostic option, making it accessible for routine screening and large-scale public health initiatives.

How It Works:

The test is based on lateral flow immunochromatography technology:

  • Sample Collection: A small stool sample is collected and processed according to the test instructions.
  • Antigen Extraction: The sample is mixed with a buffer solution to release H. pylori antigens.
  • Migration and Reaction: The prepared sample is applied to the test device. As the sample migrates along the nitrocellulose membrane, it encounters conjugated antibodies labeled with a visual marker.
  • Detection: If H. pylori antigens are present, they bind to these conjugated antibodies. The formed complexes are then captured by immobilized anti-H. pylori antibodies on the test line, producing a visible band. A control line confirms the validity of the test procedure.
  • Interpretation: The appearance of both the test line and the control line indicates a positive result for H. pylori antigens, while the control line alone signifies a negative result.

Applications:

  • Clinical Diagnosis: Aids in the diagnosis of H. pylori-related conditions such as gastritis and peptic ulcer disease.
  • Treatment Monitoring: Useful for monitoring the effectiveness of eradication therapy after treatment.
  • Epidemiological Studies: Supports public health screening and research initiatives by providing rapid and reliable detection of H. pylori in various populations.
  • Point-of-Care Testing: Ideal for use in clinics, hospitals, and remote healthcare settings where timely diagnosis is critical.
