Description
Rapid Lateral Flow HIV Test – Quick, Accurate, and Reliable Screening
The Rapid Lateral Flow HIV Test is an innovative immunochromatographic assay designed for the swift detection of HIV antibodies (and in some versions, the p24 antigen) in human specimens such as whole blood, serum, or plasma. This point-of-care test delivers results in as little as 15–20 minutes, making it an essential tool in both clinical settings and community-based screening programs.
Key Features:
- Speed and Efficiency: Provides results within minutes, enabling prompt counseling and early intervention.
- Ease of Use: Simple, user-friendly procedure that does not require specialized laboratory equipment, making it ideal for decentralized testing locations.
- High Sensitivity and Specificity: Rigorously validated to ensure reliable performance, reducing the likelihood of false positives or negatives.
- Portable and Affordable: Lightweight design and cost-effective production allow for widespread deployment, especially in resource-limited settings.
- Quality Controlled: Manufactured under stringent quality control standards and approved by relevant regulatory authorities, ensuring adherence to international diagnostic guidelines.
How It Works:
The test employs lateral flow technology, where the sample migrates along a nitrocellulose membrane. As the specimen travels, it encounters specific antibodies conjugated with a colored particle. If HIV antibodies (or antigens) are present in the sample, they bind to these conjugated markers and are subsequently captured by immobilized HIV antigens on the test line, forming a visible band. A separate control line confirms the proper flow and functionality of the test.
